Not all great road trips take you far from home. If you’re in the Madison, Wisconsin area, a July evening could be all the time you need to escape.

To celebrate the official launch of Rides and Drives, the Madison Children’s Museum will be giving away two free tickets to their Adult Swim event, Summer Road Trip (thanks, guys — we’re feeling the love)! The event takes place on July 22 from 6-10 p.m..

Enjoy pizza and beer from Roman Candle as you and other full-grown kids have the run on the Madison Children’s Museum. You’ll hunt for license plates, play road trip trivia, even make your own stamped leather bag — you can squeeze all of that childhood road-trip nostalgia into one evening, with no annoying siblings crossing onto your side of the car.

To enter, like us on Facebook and comment to our event post, tagging the person you’d bring with you to the party. Entry deadline is 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 and we’ll notify the winner Thursday morning.

These long summer nights are getting shorter by the day, so hit the road while you can!

Head over to the Children’s Museum website for more details about the event, or to purchase more tickets!

I grew up on the road. As a child, my family took regular trips from Wisconsin to both coasts. That's how I've seen most of this country — through the window of a car. Years later, I still feel that excitement when I toss my bags in the trunk and get behind the wheel. That's how seeing something new always begins. I've scaled mountains, dived with sharks, and stepped to the very edge of the Grand Canyon, all because I spent hours in a car. This site combines my passion for the road with my actual talent — communication and journalism. In college I rose to the position of managing editor for The Badger Herald, the largest independent student newspaper in the country at the time. I spent a year after graduating in social media marketing before moving off the grid to explore the wild beauty of West Virginia.
