A Pikes Peak Collection of McLaren 600LT Spiders, commissioned through McLaren Special Operations (MSO) by McLaren Denver, debuted at An Evening with MSO on July 25. The collection, which ties McLaren Automotive’s most extreme Sports Series sportscar, the 600LT Spider, to the most extreme hillclimb in the world, Pikes Peak, is perfectly fitting for the Colorado retailer, McLaren Denver.

Each of the six cars in the collection feature a unique MSO Bespoke or MSO Heritage paintwork – Black Gold, White Gold, Nerello Red, Volcano Red, Aurora Blue and Midas Grey—and all feature a gold and matte black vinyl stripe over the hood and roof, as well as Satin Speedline Gold Wheels.

The interior of each sports car features a Satin Gold centre band on the steering wheel and Satin Gold extended paddle shifters, as well as contrast stitching to all visual lines in gold. The headrest pad features the Pikes Peak logo in gold embroidery, and a dedication plaque reading “Pikes Peak Collection 1 of 6” is also included. Rounding out the spec is the MSO Club Sport Pack, which features carbon fibre cantrails, carbon fibre front fender louvres and titanium wheel bolts, as well as the Super- Lightweight Carbon Fibre Racing seats found in the McLaren Senna.

“It’s really special for us to be able to offer a car like the 600LT Spider, which is already quite special itself with its Longtail heritage, and tie it into Pikes Peak, a race that is so significant to Colorado residents, as well as the racing community globally,” said Mike Ward, owner of McLaren Denver. “Six very lucky customers will be the proud owners of these amazing McLaren 600LT Spiders, and we can’t wait to see them on the road and on the track in Colorado.”

The 600LT Spider – the fifth McLaren model to carry the LT name – maintains all the Longtail ethos of increased power, reduced weight, optimized aerodynamics, absolute driver engagement, track- focused dynamics and limited availability. Offering the same performance as the 600LT coupe, the 600LT Spider also features 592bhp and 457 lb ft of torque from a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8, allowing for identical 0-60mph acceleration of 2.8 seconds.

The adoption of suspension components from the Super Series is key to the chassis set-up of the 600LT, which features both the front and rear double wishbones and suspension uprights from the 720S, along with the rear toe-links. Latest-generation lightweight brake calipers, carbon ceramic discs and a McLaren Senna-inspired brake booster ensure precise pedal feel and a phenomenal stopping power: 124mph to a standstill in just 384ft. Bespoke Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires round out the track- focused dynamics and offer enhanced engagement.

Without compromising the dynamic purity of the most performance-focused car in the Sports Series line-up, the retractable hardtop adds a new dimension to the experience, offering both open air driving, as well aural and visual excitement from the dramatically placed top-exit exhaust.

“In addition to offering personalization, MSO offers customers and retailers the unique opportunity to be heavily involved in limited production commissions. We are thrilled that McLaren Denver has created a special, market specific commission based on the 600LT Spider. These types of commission projects are becoming an important part of our business and it highlights the continued engagement of the dealer network and customers,” said Tony Joseph, President, McLaren North America. “The 600LT Spider is already a special car, with the emphasis on track prowess and it’s limited numbers – and owning a car that fits the Longtail ethos, while benefiting from open air driving – it’s a really special proposition.”

The McLaren 600LT Spider is limited in volume and is available to order now at retailers with a starting MRSP of $256,500 (USD). For more information visit cars.mclaren.com. For more information on the Pikes Peak Collection visit www.mikewardmclarendenver.com.
