Irvine, Calif. (June 26, 2020) – Karma Automotive today announced that the Karma SC2 was named Robb Report’s Best of the Best 2020: Category Winner Concept Car for its harmonious blend of world-class luxury design and engineering. Representing the pinnacle of today’s advancements in mobility and tomorrow’s motoring experience, the all-electric SC2 is a signpost to Karma’s future design language and technology offerings.
A striking full battery electric vehicle (BEV) concept, SC2 delivers an impressive 1,100 HP and advances from 0 to 60mph in under 1.9 seconds. Front and rear mounted twin electric motors deliver 800 kW peak power, with 10,500 lb.-ft (14,000 Nm) wheel torque. Complementing such breathtaking output is a 120 kWh battery pack that provides a range of 325 miles, carbon ceramic brakes, a push-rod operated racing suspension and a Karma torque vectoring gearbox.
“The Karma SC2 embodies Karma’s distinct design identity in its stance and surface. It is the very first GT shaped EV hyper car and is inspired by Southern California’s ultra- luxury and high-tech DNA. I would like to congratulate the entire team for this success and their dedication to design a bold statement expressing our vision for the future of luxury mobility”, says Andreas Thurner, Vice President of Global Design and Architecture, Karma Automotive.
A bespoke Vapor Gray hand-painted body draws inspiration from the brand’s sleek, technology-focused future, while optimized aerodynamics leads the exterior design. Generous length from front axle to windscreen remains a distinct Karma design characteristic, while patented articulating hinge winged doors gently rising upward and forward to reveal a fiber optic headliner and stunning silhouette.
Inside SC2, the interior reflects the duality of the vehicle’s purpose with the integration of carbon fiber, aniline leather, cashmere and innovative amenities that reinforce SC’s exclusive performance and technology, including the option of visually recording drive sessions for future reference.
In addition, Karma recently announced the initial development-stage completion of its Karma E-Flex platform with supercar-capable architecture, a high-performance vehicle platform inspired by SC2. The platform will leverage the company’s emerging technology, manufacturing and design services to offer partners innovative electric mobility solutions, and is well-suited for supercar configurations and high-performance vehicles such as Karma’s SC2 Concept Car.
