Audi R8 LMS GT2 makes US debut during Monterey Car Week

HERNDON, Va., August 15, 2019 – The Audi R8 LMS GT2 will make its U.S. debut in California this weekend at the annual Monterey Car Week, following its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year. The latest model from Audi Sport incorporates [earnings from Audi drivers and race teams. The R8 LMS GT2 is available now for customer orders.

Featuring the highest specification of the naturally aspirated 5.2-liter engine, which generates 640 horsepower (470 kW), the Audi R8 LMS GT2 is the most powerful racecar Audi Sport customer racing has developed. Joining the Audi Sport customer-racing lineup, which includes GT3 and GT4, the R8 LMS GT2 is designed for a new formula of Grand Touring racing that will cater to track enthusiasts who have been the backbone of CT racing for decades. The GT2 is the ideal sports car for fielding races in the new GT2 category that will be introduced in 2020, as well as being suitable for track days and events at resorts and clubs, which enjoy increasing popularity among customers worldwide.

For the 2020 calendar year, SRO America has confirmed a five-round GT2 calendar:

  • June 6-7 — Virginia International Raceway
  • Aug. 8-9 — Sonoma Raceway
  • Aug. 29-30 — Road America
  • Sept. 19-20 — Watkins Glen
  • Oct. 3-4 – Indianapolis
