Hyundai's 2025 Ioniq 5 N is a 600+ horsepower EV aimed directly at auto enthusiast's hearts

Can an electric vehicle have a soul? Hyundai’s N team emphatically says “yes” and they back it up with this…the 2025 Ioniq 5 N. Hyundai’s first EV from their N performance division tosses everything from the tech book, and then some, at the already well-received Ioniq 5 to make it into a car enthusiast’s EV wet dream.

We’re talking two motors with a combined output of 601hp (641 on overboost) plus an array of customizable features like: N Torque Distribution, N Drift Optimizer, N Launch Control, N Race, N e-Shift, N Grin Boost, N Active Sound+ and much more to lay all of your EV fears to rest.

This is the last car that Albert Biermann worked on before retiring and he had this to say, “I think Ioniq 5 N will wake up many people to what an EV can do. I didn’t think like that. So EV’s can be fun. They can be crazy and I think that will start a whole new game.” Was he right? We spent a day with the Ioniq 5 N on track at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca and on the roads of Monterey to find out.
